Sturgis rally info.

can anyone give me information on the Sturgis rally south dakota as anyone been from this area ? or could they put me in touch with anyone in the u.k. who has some knowledge of the trip.Thanks.

i am hoping to plan a trip for 2010 but we are not taking bikes just flying there to join in the atmosphere, i think Rapid city is the nearest airport to sturgis i dont think i will have any probs with accomodation as long as we book well in advance we may well camp ? all things just going round in my head maybe we can do a fly/ride i dont know just need to speak with people who have done it maybe i need to try and contact people over the pond to chat with them.Thanks.

I shipped my bike out to Canada and Rode to Sturgis in 2007, if you are looking at hiring the costs goes through the roof over that period (always the first full week in August)

The main campsite is Buffalo, again high costs, I stayed at a campsite that was an over spill of that site (by the same owner) I payed $18 a night to camp there, the main site was $450 for the week, but obviously you don't get the entertainment included if you stay outside or free beer , but there was a free bus service to downtown Sturgis every night

Sturgis effects the whole area around there so even if you find a B&B 60 miles away you will still be amongst it, just pick anywhere in The Black Hills to stay

Was there on me bike in 88" 90" & 93" every year seemed 2 get bigger & bigger in 88 we got a hotel in sturgis in 93 we booked a camp site 15miles away a year in advance was all we could get worth a visit tho :d book early get ya self on buffalo chip campsite if you can
