| copper washers
If you have problems getting your brake lines to seal when using copper washers try heating them with a blow torch let them cool then bolt them down , worked for me.

The correct way to anneal copper is to heat to cherry red, then dunk into clean cold water. Brian. |

unlike steel allowing it to cool slowly thus annealing it (soften), with copper this has the absolute opposite effect and actually hardens the copper. cherry red then quench thats the correct way to anneal copper, when it is quenched it turns almost red. |

| Re: copper washers
ITs worth doing this on all coper washers trhat you reuse, as using them once work hardens the copper. Heating then quenching recovers the material's original properties. Was taught to do this when working on slow speed marine engines with a bore of 960 mm pumping out over 2000kw/unit. ;D BR S 8)
