Washing Your Ride

The water in my area is a bit hard and tends to leave watermarks.

I have one of those quick couplings on my water but so I connected my pressure washer to the waterbut and using the low pressure lance used my old rain water to wash my bike. Finished off with a leaf blower, and almost no water marks at all, and the few that did appear were very faint and needed little effort to remove. And I washed it in bright sunlight so the worst test really.
;D

Re: Washing Your Ride

Im sure I read somewhere that the Flash Car Cleaner is pretty good. I think the last step de ionizes the water so you dont get waterspots. All I need now is a hose ;D

Yeah, I bought one of those and was very impressed. 15 minutes with it and the bike looked better than it had done for a long time. Well, since I have had it.... :-[

Re: Washing Your Ride

I use one for a quickie wash down, but if I give it a good clean and haven't got time to dry it off I just spray the ioniser bit over it and leave it to dry.

Re: Washing Your Ride

I only over wash my baby in demin water
with a conductivity of less than 0.4 meggohm
;D ;D
and this dries off without the need to leather
because there are no impurities.
I used to work for a water treatment Company
and we used to sell large demin plant to all the car and bike
( Triumph ) manufacturers for this very reason.
I only use it cos we have tons of it at work.
otherwise the flash car cleaner which has a mixed bed softener resin in it. will achieve the same result.
as long as you change the canister as reccomended
still have to polish though
but thats a labour of love
;D ;D

Re: Washing Your Ride

I like the look of the flash car cleaner, but have no idea where to get it. Never seen it on sale.

WB

You can get it in Halfords and B&Q, about £20 for the kit.

Re: Washing Your Ride

I use the flash system - and it works really well. Sainsburys sell it in their garages with a 7 day money back guarantee - so you have little to lose. As has been said thoug, the water filter cartridge only last for 3 washes - thought it may last longer with a bike as less time used, but youreally do need to change it or it is just using plain water.

Re: Washing Your Ride

This is gonna sound real sad to you guys, but when I clean my RK, I take the seat, bags and side panels off. I use Unipart wash and wax, then a hose pipe. A leaf blower to dry it and then into the garage with the heater on. After it's dry, I spend ages polishing every part. If I do it properly it will take nearly 15 hours. Is that sad or what?.
I waited almost 34 years to own my Harley and I'm not what you would call a biker. I only ride for enjoyment and don't go anywhere in a hurry. The pleasure I get from owning a Harley is to keep it in absolute prestine condition and see peoples faces when I ride by or park up somewhere. Every week or so I add a new bit of chrome and that has to be polished up.

Brian.
