EVERY tool box should have some.

Especially living and riding in our sh!tty wet weather, nuts are gonna corrode and seize sometimes.

Know anyone in the States?
Get them to pop into Sears and get a set sent over, only $19.99.
Thats what, about £11 maybe? *;)

Craftsman Bolt-Out™ Damaged Bolt/Nut Remover Set

There is space in that box for 10, you get 5.
HERE are the missing ones to buy as a seperate set.

Features nickel chrome plating which resists rust and corrosion and it also simplifies cleaning. Set includes 14 standard and 14 metric wrenches, which is every 6 point Combination Wrench offered. 6 point design displaces stress with stronger, broader contact surfaces that prevents rounding corners of fasteners.

Re: EVERY tool box should have some.

If you're over there Dave, apparently you can get a COMPLETE set of the bolt-outs And various extractors to do EVERY kind of fastener including torx, allen etc 'in-store' for $49.99 or there abouts.

Getting my friend to get me a set when he gets a chance, I'll post the contents when I receive it.

Re: EVERY tool box should have some.

from someone who has been removing nuts and bolts seized or otherwise for 30yrs, some methods work some tools are gadgets.
I used to have to strip steam boilers and the fixings on those are subject to the most extremes.
tired and proven methods allways to the fore.
example, siezed nut.
rounded off?
never use an open ended spanner on a tight nut, why? because it will slip and round off,
possiblely cause injury.
so its rounded?
try a good pair of grips that bite, I recomend a brand called crescent.
if it aint going to have it, method B drill the nut at a right angle to the bolt then use a nut splitter.
heat and penetrating oil are very good friends.
a seized nut or bolt becomes basically fused to its opposite number and no amount of brute force or gadgets will change that all that will happen is the bolt will give up and shear

Re: EVERY tool box should have some.

All very well Mr Chapman, but try and remove an inaccessible fixing using your method. Something like say, your RK's starter mounting bolts or something similar?
