| Looking After Your Chrome
Just having had some chrome work done I asked the guy the question "how best to look after it?", he replied Windowleen. He said that's what they use as some other polishes wear down the chrome and eventually breakthrough to the nickel. I have used it and it gives one hell of a deep luster. It is also very good at removing S100 and cheaper than most polishes. Another tip I have been given is applying talc to the surface, then WD40, rub it in then wax. Apparantly this is a trick of the trade by some restorers. As chrome is porous the talc grips to the surface, absorbs the WD, then is sealed by the wax. I have not tried it, so can't comment. I hope this is of help to some of you. Please let me know if you are aware of any others. Linky |

Modern Chroming has a tighter surface finish than of old so the talc and wd40 I no longer think is worth the old wives tale However windowleen and other non scratch polishes are good value,,, most window polishes are good for chrome as they have an anti smear nature ... for glass u see. Everyone has a favourite .... me its good old liquid autosol................ Mmmmmmmmmmmmm shiny chrome Chromer 8)

Still plenty of flaws in H-D chrome. Leave it in a damp environment for a while and you'll see brown spots appear fast enough.

the best thing to do with chrome is powder coat it satin black. ;D ;D ;D.you can get home from a ride out, hose it down, dry it then in the shed it goes.just think for a mo no more hours of polishing. only for it to go dull next time your out on it. ;D ;D ;D

much as i hate to promote anything the moco as an after sales gimmick (i think my views are well known) but i have to say that i use a spray labeled Harley gloss quick detailer its very good not cheap but ive had some for two years and plenty left it doesnt take much better than a soft cloth on its own and doesnt leave smears thats it :-[ |
