Decoke time.

While I have the heads off the Shovel for the first time since I bought it, and finding that the previous owners had not engaged the services of a chimney sweep, I decided that it was about time she had a de-coke. Not looking forward to the normally tedious task of scraping, cleaning etc etc, I got out last year's Christmas prezzy which was one of those Dremmel type tools., attached the small wire brush to it and lo and behold the easiest de-coke I have ever done.
So there ya go, just be careful with your hand weight!! : :

keep your leathers on the buggers stick in your skin as i say found them days later buried in my back and shoulders
not very well attatched
reminds me of that spider that fires bristles from its leggs

Re: Decoke time.

useful very informative
and at no point were they recomending use of rotary wire brushes
i admit i did use them found them expensive and short lasting
and i say with the literal spin off
and the more i think of it
just how bloody dangerous those wires could be
if they can bury themselves in yer back what could they do else where??
shudder to think we all think we are invunerable

??? ??? ???

Re: Decoke time.

Well thanks for all the info, but I reckon porting and flowing an ol' shovel would be a waste of time. After all pullin' a chair, it only needs to run not race!!! As for me as I am only doin' a de-coke, and a valve lap, I will continue to use the little tool and as suggested, watch me back.

Thanks to all for the info.
