metal grips

just a word of warning for anyone with metal grips on their bikes - the battistini ones I had on my sportster expanded in the heat in Spain jamming the throttle on full and leaving me crawling down a mountain shitting myself!! This was followed by a lot of twatting around being pillioned about looking for a new set while my poor Sporty languished in a petrol station on the N11 somewhere near Monserratt
Anyone want a set of cold weather grips??!!

Re: metal grips

A bit obvious really and I don't mean to be picky but was there anywhere to get some water to pour on it to try to cool it down? Sorry to mention it if you did try

Ray.

Re: metal grips

I was on top of a mountain so no water. The best we could manage was to try and grease it with a bit of engine oil. i suppose it should have occured to me that metal expands in the heat but it didn't :-[

:-/.....Readster, have some decorum will you, this isn't the VMax site y'know. Besides, urine is going to be at body temperature which would almost certainly be hotter than the ambient temperature. A healthy blast of flatulence might possible work, although one would have to be careful about igniting the methane on the hot Harley engine.
