Re: Ditch the circlip.............

That could be a bit risky, if in the unlikely event that the circlip, split pin or R-clip comes loose, if you don't notice it gone you won't be getting any warning at all before it falls out.

If the Ferking thing falls out because its fitted with the shoulder on the underside of the lever clamp your stuffed anyway, and who the bloody hell is looking at circlips on a handlebar.
So you would rather have the little bugger fall out straight away or maybe get a chance to see that the pin is loose ?

Are we on a different wavelength, looking at it i think we maybe

Correct as I have done as standard, the photo is the underneath.

Chilly I think Jon has had a magic Welsh mushroom

Chilly the photo shows the underside so as you say the shoulder is at the top which is standard H-D fitting and can't just fall out

Re: Ditch the circlip.............

Yeah, I've re-read your post Chilly and realise I got confused.
The pivot pin is located as standard with the shoulder upside,
I thought you were talking about turning it around so you could see the r-clip,
soz

Re: Ditch the circlip.............

I lost the circlip on the clutch side about 2years and15k ago
and forget to replace the same, so far I have never seen the pin move at all.
If it wasnt for this post it would still be forgotten and most likely will be
again by tommorrow.

Re: Ditch the circlip.............

Good advice from Jumbo, just done this to my Sportster as the circlip went flying across the garage. Took about 10 minutes to do both pins and it is so much easier to remove them now.

Re: Ditch the circlip.............

Try placing a white sheet or 2 on the floor around where youre working ,that way when you stupidly ping the washer, you have a better chance of recovering it.Sure beats fumbling around with a magnet.
