New battery?

Had to replace the battery on my 2000 Fatboy and got a Varta at my local battery stockist for £73. When fitting I noticed the terminals could have either horizontal or vertical connection screws. I have always found the standard horizontal screws a bit fiddly and so tried the vertical method. Think it is much better way so have put image on to illustrate.

Not only are the screws easier to fit but you can get a torque wrench on them if you want to be pedantic. The screw heads do clear the seat base by about 6mm but its plastic anyway

I used M6x16 Socket Button Head screws and Large M6 Washers, both available from Screwfix. One other point, if the screws come loose the seat base prevents them from coming out completely.

The Varta part# is 518901026 and is the correct type for a Softail - YTX20L-SB.

If you are wondering, the silver duct tape was put round the battery as a handle, makes it much easier to get out if/when necessary.
