Exhaust heat shield clamps

Need to replace an exhaust heatshield clamp OEM or aftermarket?

They are not the easiest of things to get hold of as they need to be of 'US' style rather than the 'Jubilee clip/ Euro' style to be able fit under the tabs on the heatshields.
Also the OEM and most aftermarket ones are stainless steel too.

You are unlikely to pick them up at Halfords or a car spares stores these days, you might if you are lucky get them from a ships chandeliers though.

Jubilee/ Euro Style

US Style

I found these guys who do an on-line, quick service, they will send you just one if that's all you require and they have a full range of sizes too.

Stagonset Stainless Nuts and Bolts, Screws and Fasteners

Reference

Most H-D OEM header pipes use the same clamp.
Part No 9955
UK retail £3.10
Suitable replacement:-
12.7mm band 27-51mm diameter

V&H on their silencer heatshields seem to use clip size
No28 which is:-
12.7mm {1/2 inch} band 33-57mm diameter

Double check your sizes before you order though just to be sure!

Re: Exhaust heat shield clamps

If you buy Jubilee or hose clamps/clips (Euro or US), make sure they are marked ALL STAINLESS. This means the band and the screw are both stainless steel.

Some of the ones marked STAINLESS, only have a stainless steel band and a standard steel screw, so the screw will rust out and fail.

The A4 or 316 (marine) grades of stainless steel are the ones to go for, as the A2 or 304 grades of stainless has poor corrosion protection, especially around the exhaust I have found.

We use 316 hose clamps/clips offshore on our ROV's and they are in and out of the ocean all the time and the just keep going.
