Economy Sun Visor

This time of year the sun's very low on the horizon and can be quite blinding even to the point of being dangerous. To replace my visor with a legal smoked replacement it can be anything up to £50.
Now I'm not trying to teach granny to suck eggs, but with a carefully placed strip or two of black electrical tape on your clear visor.......job done!
Price approx 0.025p

I ride around with a strip like that (just the one) all-year round as it's handy in summer when the sun shines in between the top of your sunglasses and your helmet.

I used to do that but at the course we attended at Cadwell Park the instructor said the adhesive may damage the visor. We were given some shaped strips with visor friendly adhesive.

Re: Economy Sun Visor

Got to agree with the above about damaging the visor.

Anything adhesive that isn't specifically designed for helmets and visors will almost certainly cause weakening because of the solvent content of most adhesives.

I'll just stick (no pun intended) with me shades.

I think I've still got some somewhere if anyone wants one

Re: Economy Sun Visor

I'm on my third Schuberth with a built-in sun visor. I don't like looking through it, but it serves very well as an adjustable sun shield.

For many years prior to them I used wide sticky tapes of a variety of types to provide an external sun shield, without any problems whatever from the adhesive. I'm rather surprised to discover, after the event, that it was a problem!
