If I describe the camp ground do you know the name?

I'm hoping some one recognizes the camp ground from my description. It's the place I stayed at for a couple of days when I visited the UK on my bike around 1996.

I arrived in Ramsgate and rode the coastal route ..Brighton etc..I was just more or less rambling and ended up near Stonehenge.

description

Old farm house turned into pub. Right on a rural two lane road.
Places to pitch your tent out back.
a small separate shower facilities/building.
Within 20 miles( Memory could be off here) from Stonehenge.
Owners relative drives a local taxi.

If it helps...I also visited a nearby hill top (iron age I believe) fort... impressive pile of dirt for sure...mostly flint...

appreciate any and all suggestions
Yup I know it's a long shot but what the hay...

Pretty sure..I could only understand about 10% of the back ground conversation in the pub so I believe so. Kinda sounded like english....Round abouts at every road intersection.

I'll do a google street search of the Bruce Arms..if I can see a picture of the farmhouse/pub I will recognize it...thanks for the suggestion..it helps to narrow down the search.

I do remember when I left I ended up on the M25 as the group I hooked up with wanted to make some time.

After further thought it would seem to be a silly attempt...its been a long time ..I'm sure it has changed considerably ...I might not recognize it today even with a picture...but thanks to all who thought to help.

I'll put a link to this thread in the West Country section.

Do these ring any bells?

I'm afraid not BaZa..It was a small farmhouse converted to a pub..not really an Inn. Not posh at all.
..The town nearby had a train station..(boy that narrows it down eh) I took the train a couple of times to London. The pubs owner would watch my bike for me during the time I was gone. His relative who operated a taxi would pick me up at the camp site and bring me to the station. He would be waiting there for me when I returned. Terrific friendly and convenient service.

It's been 16 years or so...
Thanks

Re: If I describe the camp ground do you know the name?

Could it have been near Westbury? It has a mainline train station (direct to London) and an Iron Age hill fort. Even if it was near Westbury the place is full of pubs and campsites!!

You know it might have been..That would have made sense...I just remembered that I veered north from my coastal route to stonehenge in order to visit the Brooklands race track. I stayed nearby that night and then hit the highway. It must have been the M3 as I remember it was a main high speed road. I was approaching the Salisbury area when I saw a sign advertising camping. I left the highway and traveled on a rural two lane road until I reached the pub camping area.

That will help in the search. I can at least narrow it down.

Not sure Girlyglide but it sounds promising...and you are not kidding about the plethora of camp sites and pubs...I was dismayed by the number of search results.

Thanks for the leads fellas..when I get a chance I'll do some detective work.
