Ian have you checked out the places in France here: Biker Friendly Stop Overs in the UK and around Europe

Also Ibis are a big group to search in France. Bit like our Premier Inns and Travelodge.

http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/booking/hotels-NEVERS_list.shtml

Then put in their search Moulins and choose Moulins, Allier, it's just south of Nevers.

Cheap as chips if only for a one-nighter stop-over and they are very clean, we have used them a lot.

What's the French translation for ''The Blue Oyster Bar''?

I suggest you follow a lorry then until he stops.

Taking that a stage further, Ibis are part of the Accor group. Accor also run Etap, Etap budget, Formule 1 and F1 along with some higher end hotels.

Putting Nevers into the Accor hotel search gives a couple of much cheaper option

I dont know if you have an iPhone or iPad but Accor have an app that lets you search and book. I have found it very handy for sorting out accommodation whilst abroad and arranging where to stay the following night, especially with Formule 1's and Etap's which seem to get booked pretty quickly being at the budget end of the scale.
