Garmin brings out a new Zumo, "the 660"

Hi all

Good news Garmin is about to bring out a new Zumo the 660,

It’s a slimmer version of the 550 so should slip in ones pocket much better that the 500/550, it has a slightly bigger screen and will display in 3D and has a lane aware feature check it out here:

PurelyGadgets.co.uk - GPS Receivers - Garmin Zumo 660 Sat Nav - 010-00727-01

I’ve seen it advertised for around the 450.00 mark but here they want just 359.95 I’ve put an order in for one they take your credit card details but won’t take any money until they send the unit to you which they say should be by the end of march!! But could really be some time in the summer!!

I’ve just sold my 550 on ebay for £331.00plus P/P which is good because when the new ones are out the 550 will drop considerably see the sale here:

Garmin Zumo 550 Motorcycle/Car GPS Receiver on eBay, also, GPS Systems, GPS, Consumer Electronics (end time 07-Feb-09 21:00:00 GMT)

Do any of you use a Apple Mac with the Garmin (Zumo550 or soon to be 660) ? Any problems or issues?
Thanks and Cheers

Re: Garmin brings out a new Zumo, "the 660"

I think the 550 isn't compatable with Mac (Not totally sure so don't quote no on that one!!)

But I am sure the 660 is compatable.

Re: Garmin brings out a new Zumo, "the 660"

the zumo 550 is MAC compatable as is the mapping software mapsource but you may have to state thats what you want when you buy it as i dont think the 2 versions are on the same disc .
if you are thinking of getting a sat nav waiting for the 660 would make sense as it looks like its gonna be around 350 mark as opposed to the 450 mark ,either way i can highly recommend garmin sat navs

I have not seen "Bill Gate's Blue Screen of Death" on the half dozen PCs I use in the last 5 years or so. Most blue screen faults are caused by hardware.

Re: Garmin brings out a new Zumo, "the 660"

Or pulling out a dongle without clicking on the "safely remove hardware tab" first!!

As I did last summer, the computer worked fine for the rest of the day but when I shut it down then tried to restart it in the morning I had the blue screen of death!!

Apparently some attachments will remove files from your operating system to work, if they are then removed without using the safely remove tap they take the files with them,

Then when you start up the computer at a later date some of the files needed to in start up arn't there so the startup procedure is halted and all you get is a blue screen,

Not Good

Seems the release date in the states is April the 10th.

Wonder when we will get them over here.

Re: Garmin brings out a new Zumo, "the 660"

I’ve got it, My new Zumo 660 has arrived, I had a call today and was told it was in so I decided to go and pick it up,

I must be one of the first persons to actually own one in the UK,

I do have a couple of niggles with it but I’ll post them tomorrow,

As I ordered it back in Feb 09 direct from a Garmin distributor I got it for £364.98 a bargin in my book,

I sold my 550 for £331.00 so this is not far off a direct swap,
