tour over to northern france - advice

evening all

looking to take a weekend trip into france this summer. mate has some vouchures to use with brittany ferries.

we're thinking of maybe rennes or caens and trying to find some of the world war II locations etc.

Anyone recommend some good routes and locations to visit? reckon it'll be a 2 or 3 night stop over so any advice on where to stop over etc would be much appreciated!

Thanks guys

Check out the following B&B in Gauchin Verloingt, not far from Calais. Run by a lovely couple Paul & Sue who are part of the Sussex Coasters.

Les Ballastieres B & B Website

Some lovely roads down there, from the little we saw. Were just passing through. If you can further south, I can highly recommend Millau and the Gorges du Tarn. Some really fab scenery down that way.

Cheers
Ruth

If you're looking for battlefields etc, may I suggest the Royal British Legion Riders' Branch? They'll have some decent info:

Get the green Michelin guide to Normandy. It is a long thin guide that sits nicely in your inside pocket. It has some cracking recommended routes. Check out Petit Suiss 'Little Switzerland'. Also, the coast road from Le Havre to Arromanche takes some beating for WW2 history. The book has hotels, food, town plans and info. Well worth it.
