Secure Parking in ROME

I'm going to Rome in July, my family are flying but I will be taking the bike.

I would appreciate any tips on secure bike parking area's either in the city centre, or a short distance outside, even near to the airports.

The parking will need to be covered and secure.

Also, what restrictions are there on me just riding into Rome, is there a permit scheme, what are the pitfalls.

All info appreciated.

Re: Secure Parking in ROME

It was nearly 8 years ago when I was last there, my scoot was only 1 year old then, so well worth nicking. I found a garage in Via Castro Pretorio, they were good. I think that I had to leave the keys with them!!! In case of emergency. But don't let that put you off, I got my bike back, no scratches, no extra miles on the clock.

I just took a look on Google streetview and the place was still there, #16c. That's about all I can tell you, you'll have to find out the rest yourself. Rome is a great city and it isn't that big, they only had to tube lines back then, but walking around is definitely the way to go.

Your welcome

Re: Secure Parking in ROME

Thanks for that Aitch, I'll get in contact.
When I fly from Manchester, I park my car nearby in a secure multi storey car park which has attendants 24hrs and no scally's can get in coz it's all fenced and gated. I was looking for something like that at Rome Airport so I can meet my family at the airport and do the touristy thing.
My big problem is that I scraped everything I had to get a new Fat Bob, and with insurance excesses and the recent price rise, I couldn't afford to replace it for a couple of years.
I'm doing the National Rally a couple of weeks before (945 miles last year), and will be going to John O Groats late July, so might just take the soft option and get a flight. My loss I suppose
