recently returned from 2nd bike tour in the usa.... we used eaglerider bike rentals both times....and we were happy with the service both times.. just plan where you want to go....plan how many miles all of your group are happy to do daily .book your hotels / motels in advance on internet...its really easy to do once you start planning ...everything will fall into place... |

One & all, Thanks as ever for the great tips, ideas, and links. The hard part is that one of my mates is about 4 feet and a fag paper tall, and he’s only got back into biking after a 23 year break so he’s a tad concerned about the weight of a Harley. My other mate is 6 feet 3, and is definitely not a Harley man, Honda GoldWing seems to be his weapon of choice. I ride a Springer Softail over here but will probably go for a Heritage or Electra Glide in the States. We’ve done a couple of trips in cars, (went to Tupelo, Memphis, across Tennessee to Nashville, on to Dollywood, and out via Atlanta so quite happy to travel & pick up Hotels/Motels en route). Spider, we also did much of your trip from San Fran to Vegas via Yosemite & Death Valley, if I’m not mistaken your (excellent) pictures are:-

I don't think this is a bona fide government website, that would have a .gov address this is just a scam company who release the unsuspecting joes of 20 GBP who don't look into how the ESTA should be obtained. 10 minutes on the US embassy website Maybe Google should be advised or are they getting a cut to have this company pop up first? San Antonio is a great choise. I lived in Houston for a couple of years and regularly visited San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Don't forget the River Walk and the Alamo. Also, travel down the coast and you'll finally get to a real undescovered pearl of place called South Padre Island where there is a great beach (you can drive along the beach and I once went for 5 miles without seeing anyone else) cheap hotels and great food.
