| Good deal from Tesco for Eurotunnel tickets
Tesco currently have a partner deal with Eurotunnel. You can use your Tesco Clubcard vouchers to purchase Eurotunnel crossings to France. The good bit is that every £1 of your Clubcard vouchers buys £4 worth of Eurotunnel tickets. Unfortunately I only got £5 worth of vouchers with my latest Clubcard statement, but it's knocked £20 off of the price of a crossing. We're off to Les Ballastieres for a couple of nights at the start of October. Anyone got recommendations for places to go, eat, drink over there please? Neil |

When you get to 'Les Balls' Paul/Sue will tell you all about the area - but the fav place is 'La Poste' which is both a micro brewery & restaurant - not only that but they are now used to Brits drinking them dry!!! Well, the Coasters anyway. A nice walk down to the town but a bloody long way back if your'e pi**ed A super place, you'll enjoy it.

Hi Compo Well you are guaranteed a great time no matter what you do at Les Balls! We went to Arras and Lille by train from St Pol to the Vimey (cant remember the spelling) Ridge Canadian war memorial - awe inspiring - there are also some trenches which have been opened up and built to show what they were like during the war and to the most interesting was the underground village - an entire village, churches, markets, areas to keep animals, streets with house numbers - all underground. If you go you will be given a wind up torch - dont forget to wind it! Try anywhere that is filled with cars for lunch and remember that the French have very definite times for this - if you dont get there between 12.30-1.15 you wont get any! As Old Bob said the best advice is to ask Sue and Paul and they will give you loads of ideas

Thanks guys. We booked Les Balls for our first trip abroad on the bike based on reports from here on the forum and from some pics posted by Hal. It's a shame that we can only manage a couple of nights, so that's gonna limit what we can do and see, but we are certainly looking forward to some good food and drink. And I'll probably make a tit of myself trying to speak the lingo - ah well c'est la vie! We'd like to fit in Lille, Arras, Vimy and the underground village but certainly won't have time for that lot! Sounds like a good reason for a return visit to me! Neil |
