Make your own sidecar

Is what I want to do. Not for the Shovel but for a XL600LMF that I have so I want to make a Enduro type/style thing. Trouble is I don't have much of a idea as to where to start.
Has anyone got any clues??

Anyway, I have been and looked very hard at them and now have plenty of ideas, the thing I have to suss out now is the method of joining the frame to the bike.

Re: Make your own sidecar

Thanks again, you ust be a internet search wizard.

The biggest problem I can see at the moment then is that the XL has square tubing for the frame and all aviable fittings that I have seen are for round.

I have decided against welding the sidecar frame to the bike frame as I may need to take it off sometimes, but welding the fittings looks like a option.

Hi Bill.

Unit Sidecars, who make Hedingham chairs, use a welded lug system with variable length rods to provide adjustment. It could be worth going for a similar system by welding lugs to your square section Honda frame. How you deal with the chair end will depend on how you construct it. It's not really wise to weld a chair to a bike in a fixed position as your bound to need to adjust it at some point ... usually after stickin' it up a tree The adjustable rods are available to buy or can be made up if your into the engineering bit.

It sounds like I know what I'm talking about but the truth is I know a man who owns part of the company
