Having just fitted a chair to my bonnie do I need to notify DVLA.
Is there any other formalities I need be aware of. Cheers Den.

You are 'supposed' to re-tax it as a combination and you have to tell your insurance company as well.
But you don't need to tell the dvla everytime you put it on or take it off.

Years ago when i had them it used to be cheaper insurance, and you could ride any bike any size on L plates,

If the bike is old enough you have to get it re-tested as an outfit.

Yep,use to get 50% off insurance with a chair.
Seems the only statistics they had refered to pipe smokers with Panthers not nutters with planks nailed onto Thunderbirds.

Thanks for the replies, It's a recent Jubilee Classic, fitted and colour matched to a Harley by the first owner but not used so in good nick.
I thought I'd try it on the Bonnie first, brings back memories of my youth.
It shakes it's it head like it's gone cold turkey I'll try adjusting it out before
fitting a damper, I don't want to go down the leading links road.

Is it when you gas it on right handers it shakes?They all do with tele forks.
If it's doing it in a straight line try a bit more toe in and/or moving the chair forward an inch at a time.
What Bonnie is it?Changing to slightly higher,wider bars can make things better.I put Commando Interstate bars on my pre-unit,world of difference.

If all else fails,with all the custom stuff about you could get yokes with reduced trail and keep stock look.

It's an 04 T100. It's only in a straight line under power,
I've increased the toe in, slight improvement. I'll try moving it forwards later ,
I dont want to alter the bike to much for now. thanks Den.

That IS a nice outfit.
It's putting out a bit more than my pre-unit did but I'm sure it will improve when you adjust the drag out of the chair.
Let me know if you decide to try a damper,I might be able to find you a Girling one that we used to use,I'm sure my mate who used to make the forks will have one somewhere.We used to buy them in bulk direct from Girling.

Hold on a minute - my very first bike was a Panther - and I used to smoke a pipe back then....
