toe in/out tracking

Hi, I'm building a small 2 wheel trailer to tow behind the Road King. Can anyone advise me on the amount of toe in or out I should set the wheels to, so it pulls straight without weaving about. I have asked a local tyre company, but I don't seem to get a sensible answer from them.
It is a metre wide and a total of 1.5 metres from the tow ball to the centre line of the wheel hubs (not sure if that's relevent or not).
Thanks for any advice from anyone that understands wheel alignment.

Brian.

Re: toe in/out tracking

Interesting question, Brian; I've been towing trailers for years behind cars and outfits and I've never heard of trailer wheel alignment - they've all had the wheels parallel, whether on a solid axle or seperate units. Could I ask how the question arose - have I been missing something? I always thought the important points were nose-weight and keeping the weight over the axle as far as possible.
Cheers,
Pete.

Re: toe in/out tracking

Thanks for your reply Pete. The reason I was asking is because I know how important wheel alignment is on a car, and thought it might be the same with a trailer.

I have however been in touch with a well known trailer manufacturer since I started this thread, and put the question to the tech man.
The answer is, with a trailer as small and light as the one I'm building, it isn't too important. Things should be ok if I set the wheels to paralell or 1/16" toe in on each side. This will apparently vary with the diameter of the wheels being used. I'm using 10" wheels on mine.
The main reasons for a trailer not following the tow vehicle correctly are usually bad distribution of weight and wheels that either toe out too much or toe in too much.
