Re: Mr B's trailer project

The wheel arch tubs have been cut down now, I think they look neater.

The lid base was next. I made an exact copy of the top of the trailer sides.

The lid framework. Like all of this...I'm designing in my head as I go along. Looks ok to me...I'm pleased with this.

The lid opened. I wanted chrome hinges...coz I'm a chrome junkie, but I can't find any that I like. So I'm going to make some internal hinges...nice and strong. The lid will be held up with Range Rover Classic rear window gas struts...I just happen to have a pair kicking around.

All this still only weighs in at less than 80 kg. By the time I've swapped the wheels for lightweight alloys...I should be finished at my target of 100kg.

More to come as I get something interesting to show you.
I'll try to tidy the workshop up a bit before the next lot of pics

Brian.

Re: Mr B's trailer project

Just an update on how things are progressing. I'm always being asked how this project is going.

I've made a huge fu*k up, so it's back to the drawing board...which is in my head. It would have been better if I had drawn it out or at least planned it instead of making it up as I go along.

The UK regulations covering this trailer (I want to stay within the law, incase I get stopped or have an accident. I'm not covered by insurance if it's not within the regs). It must be no longer than 2.5 meters from the rear wheel axle to the far end of the trailer....I'm 100mm over length and there is no way I can get over this easily.

My target weight for the finished trailer is 100kg, then I can get a maximum of 50kg in it, and still be within the law. It weighs 110kg and still hasn't got any bling on it...and I must have my bling.....everyone needs a fix of some sort....bling is mine.

So I am going to chop out 500mm from the centre and join it all back together again. It should be well underweight that way.

It will work out in the end, then the Anglia Bunch can all take the piss out of me and my Road Bling rig as much as they want...they always do

More to follow....

Brian.
