Trailer indicators warning buzzer

Good grief, all I wanted to do was tow a trailer that could carry a sleeping bag of the size that I now need; I keep coming across all sorts of obscure rules - can someone tell me if my bike needs a 'warning buzzer or similar' for the indicators?
BTW this is the project so far.
Cheers,
Pete

Re: Trailer indicators warning buzzer

Trailer or no trailer A MOT fail can be issued for motorcycle indicator lights on the grounds that,-

" The operation of the indicators is not visible from the riding position and there is no 'tell tale' fitted. Where a 'tell tale' is fitted it does not function or operate correctly." (Audible or visual).

Details here MOT TEST INFORMATION 1.5 Direction Indicators

-But if the MOT man fails you on that your going to the wrong place.

Re: Trailer indicators warning buzzer

Going on this you need buzzer or idiot light that flashes with trailer indicators.

Re: Trailer indicators warning buzzer

Surely there is no need for indicators on the trailer if the bikes/cars indicators can be clearly seen!

Re: Trailer indicators warning buzzer

Thanks SX150; I should have added 'when towing' - the bike has it's standard 'idiot'
lights.
And thanks Limey Dave but their info then goes on about trailers 1.3m wide, so clearly not specifically for motorcycle trailers; is anything specific to bike trailers other than size and weight or do all regs apply except when specifically excluded?
Cheers,
Pete

Re: Trailer indicators warning buzzer

Thanks Kernow; dunno about that but there's no chance of seeing the lights on my Road King with that behind me! Anyhow, got to go now.
Cheers,
Pete
