Re: Where's first gear gone?

Does it select and drive in 2nd gear?
Working blind as I don't recall what bike she has now,but if 2nd is ok,it could be the remote linkage seized on the shaft,or loss of adjustment inside the cover.
If the first,then WD40 might sort it,if the second,or internal,then it's a recovery job I would think.
Not good to ride with an unknown gearbox fault.

If it's this

the linkage can stop it retuning to the "neutral" position, which prevents selection of the next gear.

I would say John has nailed the problem spot on.

Check to see if the gear linkage rod has adjusted itself with vibration.

Would you adam and eve it. It was the bolt from the horn that had come off and slipped into the mechanics. Ten minute job at the dealers today. So all is well.

so......the horn was hanging off as well? I can't quite picture what they told you. Where did the bolt end up? I'm only interested to know.
