Removing Front Fender 2007 Road King Custom

Been looking at removing the Front Fender off my 2007 Road King Custom and hoping to do it without removing front wheel if possible. However the lock nut bars are a bit difficult to fold back from the nuts/bolts that fix the fender to the brackets as one cant stick a screw driver from the other side of the wheel to fold back the tabs as the wheels are near on solid on the RK Custom.

So looking like I got to remove the front wheel.
Any one please got a workshop manual that can be scanned to show how the front wheel comes off and most importantly how to put it back on again, and what torque settings I need please. Any tips?
Cheers.

Re: Removing Front Fender 2007 Road King Custom

PeteJ,
The front wheel has to come off, lift the bike, remove calipers, slip something through hole to lock axle, slacken axle nut, then loosen the axle pinch bolts.
support the wheel....use whatever you used in the axle hole for leveridge
too remove the axle. Installation is reversal of removal.Make sure spacers correct sides, tighten axle nut, then too align calipers..use a 7/16 driil bit through the hole in the axle and pull he fork leg against it.Tighten up axle clamp nuts.
caliper torque...28-38 ft Ibs(38.0 to51.5 NM)
axle clamp nuts...132-180 inch Ibs (14.9 to 20.3 NM)
Front axle nut.....50-55 ft Ibs (61.0 to 74.6 NM)
Hope this helps a wee bit.

Re: Removing Front Fender 2007 Road King Custom

I changed the front fender on my 2004 Road King Classic without taking it off, its was relatively simple and took about half an hour to take off and replace.

I think the front fender on The Custom is the same as the Classic, but without all the trim, so unless it has drastically changed for the 2007 model, it should be straight forward.
