| Auto Chain Tensioner, who's got one and is it worth it? .....soon doing the belt and pulleys on my 2003 Road King while it is all stripped down I thought I may as well do this. (Auto Chain Tensioner) So question is, is it worth it and can you tell any difference? Is their claim below correct? Thanks in anticipation... M6-BT01'01 & up Big Twins/Twin Cams Sugg. Retail - $109.99 Now you can have proper chain tension during acceleration and deceleration with the big benefit of improved shifting. Your transmission will 'click' into gear instead of 'clunk'. Another benefit of the M6 is less vibration because of the constant control of the primary chain. If you change the primary oil at the Harley Davidson recommended intervals of 5,000 miles, you can expect longer chain life as well. After installing the M6, you will swear you just rebuilt the clutch and transmission. >>Installation Instructions |

Now Baza you know it only takes a few minuites to adjust the primary chain and is your gear shifting hard, do you get a lot of vibration from the primary side? Do you know anyone who has had to replace a primary chain under about 100k ? if your answer no to these questions it seems a pointless exercise. pete

| Re: Auto Chain Tensioner, who's got one and is it worth it? Don`t get one of those Baz, get an HB125 Hydraulic tensioner, had one fitted for a year now, best bit of kit i ever bought. Got mine from Battersea for around Ŗ85.00 Suggest you P M him and ask if he`s still got any. ;)

I have had an M-6 on the last three bikes I have owned, an excellent piece of kit. It reduces vibration & makes shifting easier. I highly recommend it. I do not have as much experience with the HB125, but I understand it works well. The new HD auto tensioner retro-fits to all earlier models, it also works very well. 40063-05, sells here for $99.95. My preference for the M-6 is only because I am a big believer in `keep it simple`.

I fitted an HB-125 at 10k, now 25K havn't needed to do anything in that time (other than change oil of course). Thing I like about the HB is that if there's movement in the shoe it sucks in a bit more oil, but if the adjustment is due to too much chain snatch it lets a little back out through the pressure release valve, clever ;) Get one you wont regret it.

I had an M6 in the FXR for several years, I can honestly say that I did not notice a great deal of differance if any, but then I always kept the primary chain tensioned correctly. You might well not notice any less vibration with a rubber mount engine. I fitted it mainly to cut down on maintenace as I had the mid gear shift that passed through the primary inspection cover, that made it a pig to get the cover off and that along with having to remove the footrest was in general a pain. I would consider the H-D one too, but am following some of Phild's earlier advice and wait a while to see if H-D have any issues with it along with the reduced clutch pull kit, before fitting one to the Road King. If no problems then I would fit both in one go, basically again just to save doing one less thing on the service. The M6 was easy to fit and I had no problems with mine. Steve |

I fitted the HD version they now put in some of the 06 models as standard (I know it probably isn't as good as some of the other types, but the bike's still under warranty and I don't want any "issues" should I need to make a claim). Definitely an improvement in gearchange. |

Yeah what Battersea said .. I fitted the HB-125 7000 miles ago .. Never had to touch my Primary chain since also seems to shift a bit smoother & quieter ..

I have fitted the hb125 and also white bros e-z clutch to my RK and i find the gears tend to click and the clutch lever is much lighter to pull than original,I would recommend

I just fitted a HB125 tensioner. It has stopped the surging feeling at low speed. The gears engage much smoother than before. I gotta get some miles on it now to see if it lasts. I got it from Foghollow in the States...$110 delivered, took 6 weeks though. Brian.
