Fuel tank link pipe.

Hello everyone. I have a 1992 FXRS that I am rebuilding and am just about to fit the fuel tank but i'm a bit confused. The tank has a single fuel tap and the two nipples at the front, do I just connect these together with a piece of hose and if so doe's that mean I have to cut this pipe every time I take the tank off?

Thanks in advance,

Jamie.

Re: Fuel tank link pipe.

Hi, normally it's just a piece of fuel hose that connects them together. It can be a real pain to drain the fuel if you have to take the tank off in the future so it might be a good idea to get a quick release coupler.
I reckon you can get them at almost any bike shop, jap or HD.
I think the fuel pipe is 1/4" bore so all you need is some pipe, a couple of small jubilee clips and you are good to go.

Hope this helps.

Yes you connect it one side to the other, if it wasn`t there the fuel would not flow from one side to the other as it was gradually used.
Cutting it each time you remove the tank is a little extreme, just disconnecting it works. There is also a quick disconnect crossover available.

But you should not have to keep removing the tank!
