fuel injection

anyone on the forum run open pipes with fuel injection , will it run right without a power commander, if it has baffles in ,does it still need a power commander to sort fuelling out, any answers would be appreciated.thanks.

The answer is NO. Just for info, what year /type of injection is it? That could affect the answer.

thanks ,its a 05 bike dyna fxdx,it has d&d pipes on it. will a commander make it run smoother, it runs ok with no commander.but don't want to run it lean.

It will be running very lean, power Commander is OK. The race tuner works a lot better. I work for an HD store but have used both, in my opinion there is no comparison.
I would even be a little worried about running your bike that lean!

thanks, the race tuner is the business then and thats the one to go for.power commanders have a lot of press in the mags.would the bike run lean just ridin around at differant revs,

The 06`s have a closed loop system with oxygen sensors which do not allow the system to lean that far out. The 05`s don`t, yours will be running lean throughout the RPM range.
Apart from anything else the bike must be a bit gutless too, I would at least put in some torque cones or something.

torque cones,what do they look like and what do they do , the d&d pipes have the baffles in already so they are not fully open pipes did'nt want to chance with nothing in. thanks for the info.

Torque cones go between the heads & the pipes, they interupt the flow to create back pressure. However if you have some baffle it shouldn`t be too bad. You said in the beginning straight pipes which means straight through to me.

yes they have baffles ,not that i would say really quite ones , i could take them out , but thats not a good idea is it . they have a dyno at the dealers and maybe put it on there at the next service.that will show the lean spots. thanks for all your time and correspondence.roly
