Re: starter motor

Didn't I read somewhere recently about compression valves that are built into sparkplugs so that special fittings and machining is no longer necessary. Just a thought

They are available, but only for 14mm spark plug holes.

Re: starter motor

You might want to consider changing the starter drive, ring gear ratio.
I would be willing to bet that you have a Hi4 ignition or similar. If so set it to `kick start` that will help.

Re: starter motor

I would say that if you have comp releases & a good battery it should turn over fine, you may have an alternate problem, it should not do that.
Just in case here is the info on the reduced gear starter drive set -up.

Re: starter motor

Would that help my standard 88 Evo 1340 Phil,it really struggles on the first throw,so i stop, then do it again and its ok.Bin like it ever since iv'e had it (7 years),starters bin cleaned etc + good wiring and earth ,new battery but it has made no difference,iv'e just learned to live with it ,and its never let me down (yet),must admit its a bit disconcerting sometimes tho.

This in in reply to your advice on Hi 4 ign and kick start setting

Chilly
