Twin Cam derby cover o ring

I have ordered a parts list so shouldn't have this problem again, BUT, in the meantime, does anybody know the part number for the derby cover (clutch inspection cover) o ring on a 99 TC Dyna?

Thanks in anticipation

I don't know if you're just doin routine servicing or what Crazyivan but you can usually re-use that gasket quite easily without having to fit a new one every time ;)
Because the chaincase is only partially filled with oil for splash lubrication of the clutch and primary chain, there is no pressure inside and so you can usually just nip the fixxing screws up for a good oiltight seal.

Wacko,

I had the bike serviced and have a small weep there now. Just thought that rather than take it off twice (once to check) I could do it the once and put a new one on at the same time.

That sounds lazy , I'll whip the cover off and have a look, maybe the gasket is trapped or something.

Cheers,

Ivan

I assume the O ring is similar to my EVO O ?? Mine had become stretched and it was impossible to fit it in the groove. I put it in the fridge for a half hour, it shrank and was too small, as it slowly warmed, it soon (minutes) got back to exactly the right size, at that point it was clamped up and is still oil tight.

Worked a treat.

They changed for the twin cams and Phild said it was now a gasket. I will have to take it off to find out for sure but won't be able to until Saturday. If it is an o ring, will take your advice. Cheers

Re: Twin Cam derby cover o ring

One thing to watch out for;

The gasket must be assembled the correct way around;) It is the full size of the derby cover but has a small circular 'raised' section all around the sealing area.
This raised section compresses when you tighten the screws to form a good seal.
It is important to make sure that the raised ring faces inward to create the proper seal.

Heh! maybe the dealers fitted it wrong

Nawwwwww that could NEVER happen
Wacko
