VOES valve.

Hi all, I have just completed rebuilding my 92 FXRS with a new Evo engine, HI4 ignition, Mikuni HSR42 and have not bothered fitting a VOES valve. The bike seems to run fine but haven't given it a good run yet but I was wondering if this should be o.k. or should I fit a VOES?

Thanks,

Jamie.

Re: VOES valve.

there is no sound reason to dispense with it. I run Hi-4 with stock VOES.

Re: VOES valve.

If you are not running the VOES don`t forget to set the HI-4 to race & not factory, as on the factory setting the ignition factors in the VOES being connected.
Simon, the ignition does it for you.

Re: VOES valve.

yes phil but it moves according to engine rpm rather than manifold depression?
yeah ok it will work like that, but it going to be linear rather than load adaptive.

ok so it wont matter that much

Re: VOES valve.

Exactly Simon, strictly according to pre set maps.
However they work very well & are quite reliable

Re: VOES valve.

Thanks for the replies guys. Is it definately o.k. to run the HI4 in race mode as the instructions say this is for high compression engines only? or would it just be easier to fit a VOES valve?

Re: VOES valve.

Personally I would put the VOES on, but if you leave the advance trim-pot in the middle, race mode will run fine too.

O.K. thanks mate, I think i'll get one. Just one more question (for now at least!), Where abouts would I fix it to the bike?

Re: VOES valve.

It fits to a small bracket which goes under the petrol tank & over the intake manifold. A vacuum line goes from the top of the carb to the VOES intake.
The ground wire on the unit goes to the frame. The other wire goes to the VOES wire from the ignition unit.
