| FXDWG luggage
I know there have been various threads concerning luggage but I'm still not sure which way to go. The T bags look ok but apparently may unbalance the bike if sitting behind the sissy bar. I have the racks already fitted so am tempted to go for the panniers. Not wishing to pay dealer prices, can anyone suggest a reasonable looking/quality alternative? There is so much to choose from...... |

Great tip I learnt from Big Kev Whelan is to cut a piece of plywood about 2ft long, sand off the corners and drill 4 holes through the timber panel corrolating to the position of the rack on the bob tail fender. Simply fasten down the plywood with nylon tie wire (cable tidy's) to hold firmly in place. OK, so you have to cut the tie wires off every time you remove the shelf and put new ones on every time its refitted, but is still a brilliantly simple idea producing masses of luggage space. I've carried tents, air beds, sleeping bags etc, all secured to the shelf with bungees, if you follow Kev on the road, you'll see he carry's every thing apart from the kitchen sink on the back of his bike. Only problem is Kev will be requiring royalties for his simple invention as soon as his patent is finalised... I just got away with buying him a beer...
