All looking good so far, I've done a deal on the bike in principle subject to a good test ride on this coming Friday. Again anything to look for as far as riding quirks on a 97 RK (they all do that sir)? All seems well from a stationary inspection. Thanks again people, and I'll let you know. David |

The original Harley tyres are hard and you can get a lot of miles out of them but they are cr*p in the wet. If a lot of ,motorway riding is done they do tend to square off making them weave a bit on white lines etc, so dont worry about that. Enjoy you test ride.

Update time, I took the RK for a long test today, loved it, wondered how I was going to tell the wife, ummed and arred a bit and then did the deal. Paid 7600 minus 3100 for the Daytona in PX, and I do the swap on Friday next week. Thanks for all your help people, I guess I'd better join now David |

Oh by the way, as a fully fledged metric tool kit owner, what do I need to keep a 97 Evo RK on the road? Also, what are the best brake upgrades? Don't eat too much chocolate now!! David |

| Re: Urgent advice wanted on 97 evo For a start, you`re gonna need a pretty comprehensive set of AF spanners, allen keys, torx bits etc. Don`t bother with Halfrauds, they`ve very few AF tools these days. Do wot i did, take a trip to the U.S. and buy `em there. They`re also half the price of our tools. Seriously, Snap-on will have wot you need but i`m afraid they tend to be very expensive, i was fortunate in the fact that i kept all my old British bike tools which fit Harleys rather well. I converted my Evo front brake to a four pot Twin-Cam one with the aid of an adaptor bracket, but i guess you have two on the RK. if you don`t wanna go down that route, then i reccomend that you fit EBC pads a.s.a.p. Just a personal thing, but i find they work bloody well, oh, and if it hasn`t got them already, fit braided steel brake lines, that improves the braking too.

Wow, great price. You can find AF tools here but you need a *proper tool shop*.....or have a dig round the archives, lots of us have tips on where to obtain via mail order or whatever... EBAY is also a great source. The one metric spanner you will need is the 10mm for the battery bolts. Harrison brake calipers are the upgrade of choice for many, myself included. Coming off that Daytona, you will notice the brakes are relatively poor. Metzeler 880 tyres are a significant improvement if that bike still has the slippy Dunlops. Enjoy and yes, please join the club, not just the website fun. |
