Odometer Reinstatement!

Hi all, I have a 2003 FXDWG with about 06500 miles on it and have the chance of buying a combination speedo/tacho from Warrs in London (in stock!!!)
Apparently they reinstate your milage from the States when you order one but reckon 5-6 weeks for delivery!! by then I could have put another 1000 odd miles on the bike, what use is reinstatement then
Does anybody know of any companies which will alter the zero mileage on my new one to match my existing 06500 that is on the bike now?
I've rung several companies this morning and they havn't got a clue where to start, I rang one and he said 'yeah, I can do it, but the rim might be buckled when you get it back 'cause they are sealed and I'll have to break-in!!'

Any info or help would be very much appreciated

Kind Regards,
Ian

Well there you have your answer....

they do that to prevent clocking .
just as a footnote an oddometer is the resettable part or trip meter as some say, you'er refering to the mileometer;)

They do not have a choice, its the law.
Breaking in will do no good at all, it`s electronic.
Why don`t you guess 6 weeks worth of mileage?

That was my first thought, however, if you estimate your mileage as accurately as poss, then add a couple of hundred. You don't have to fit the thing till you get to the pre-set figure.

It can be spot on.

Re: Odometer Reinstatement!

Thanks guys, and yes I was talking about the mileometer.
Thanks for your suggestion Dave, that would work....sound!
As it happens, I found a company who will do what I request without taking it apart!!! Yes, apparently it is possible.......about £65-£70.
AND.....When I can remember where I put the Bl$$dy details, I will post them on the site!!
Thanks again for your interest,
Regards,
Ian

just a thought, you may not be able to post details of where you can get that done on here just incase some undesirable uses it for clocking purposes.
