Softail Tyre Mileage

My softail custom has just done over 3200miles and the front was really putting the sh"*)s up me today. Cheked tyres it is as low as 1.6 in places. This is the standard Harley originals!

What should you expect?

I have always felt that you should get a sh*t load more miles out of a front tyre than that.
My old FXSTC (hardtail chop) was a well heavy bike with 8" over front forks and it did nearly 12,000 miles before I needed to change it.
Not sure what the issue is here...?

I have run 2 Softails from new and each time got 12,000 from the front stock 21" tyre before changing. No idea why yours should be different.

I had the stock HD Dunlop 21" on mine, and it had craze cracked and looked about 10 years old after a few thousand miles. Also, the tread depth was a lot less than I expected, and I ride like a pussy. Changed it for a Metzeler last year, and that's been fine after 9000 miles and completely changed the handling of the bike. No more tramlining on road patching or white lines, and much more secure in the wet.

Mines is a night train and had to change the original front tyre after about 5500mls. The centre tread was ok but it was feathered badly on the outer
