Re: Vance & Hines Fuel Pack ?

Sorry my last post crossed yours. Setting the mixture then is a matter of skilled judgement?

yes and no.
you are given a simple list of mods from an actual stock bike to a fire breathing 95" cams and all
and on that basis you are given base setting to get you going, got to say it hasnt been adjusted as yet , too tired after a three day party.

it actually brings the efi into the realm of being as tunable as a carberettor

Re: Vance & Hines Fuel Pack ?

I'll leave you to continue your recovery after this question - but you always hope that others will also benefit from the topic.

So in conclusion, the bike needs new fuelling to deal with better breathing and Kitech is cheaper than their competitors and (once wired in) allows a numbskull like me to select options from a list (like V&H pipes + SE filter) as a base setting - then an expert can fine tune, if necessary.

Sounds wonderful . . . . . . .

Re: Vance & Hines Fuel Pack ?

Base settings recommended by Dobeck are a good starting place, dobeck itself has a very informative forum, they have been producing this fuel injection unit for years and have bags of experience. you can find the forum here http://www.dobeckperformance.com/forum/ the unit is really straight forward to fit and takes around an hour, however, took us well over an hour at the show - we kept loosing our photographer (cheers Roger) we will soon have available for sale or hire an exhaust sniffer that will read your air / fuel ratio while out on test rides which will allow you to tweak the dobeck unit more acuratly for your bike.

another bonus with this unit is that it can only add fuel which means that you cannot make your engine run any leaner than it already is..

the price is £ 160.87 for non members, club members get a 10% discount (one of the many good reasons to become a member)

Re: Vance & Hines Fuel Pack ?

Whatever you get it may be worth having a dyno run done. This will show exactly what the bike is doing across the rev range and often the dyno people can tune your settings for more power etc.

It's usually fairly cheap as well. My local indie does it for about £40.

Re: Vance & Hines Fuel Pack ?

while on the subject of price, you could check out the V&H fuelpak, i paid £160 inc vat from my local dealer, and fitted it in under an hour.

To see if it has a download, just have somebody hook up a diagnostic too to the bike. Have them record the operating download part #. If they cannot tell you what it is, pm me with it I will.

Re: Vance & Hines Fuel Pack ?

Might be able to see the cal # with a TS88 or race tuner in data mode without going near a dealer, someone close by *might* have either?
(RT in data mode should work on a bike it's not married to.)

Mr Chappychaps, you're not touting the DFO/TFI that I've been telling you all about for the last 3 or 4 years now are you?

RobK, £40 to dial in a DFO/TFI?
If you're all willing to pay that for turning a couple of screws I'm taking appointments.
