Hi guys, just finishing a cam chest rebuild, Silly Question, can you run em up
without the tank on ? [have got other stuff to do later] I would have thought you could as long as you could get some petrol into the fuel line , syringe ?

Re: Tank Off

Yes you can. You'll need something proper to hold the petrol. In the absence of something proper, I once used a new catheter bag. It worked fine. Be cautious with the flammables. Might want an extinguisher nearby just in case.

Re: Tank Off

You can also set the tank on a nearby workbench stool or something higher than the carb. Be sure it's stable. Run a line to the carb. Your thought of a syringe should also work, without the plunger. A large one from a farm animal supply comes to mind. Take care with the petrol.

Re: Tank Off

on occasions we use an old 1 litre gear oil plastic container with the bottom cut off drill a hole in the screw off lid 8mm i think and put a rubber car valve in the top as it seals itself and unscrew the needle valve out ,and a length of rubber pipe shoved on the threaded part of said valve and hang up ya container in shed or garage so its higher than bike, connect to carb put some fuel in and bert,s ya uncle, ya can fire er up
