| Re: 60mph front brake failure 06 Dyna not another one, its fu8kin crap aint it. They must know by now that a complete supply of pads to the manufacturer are failing and they haven't even bothered notifying the buyers of the models that are suspect. Looking forward to what they say to Phil. If I were you I would got straight on to HD UK yourself and point out that in our club a number of specific bikes are loosing brake pads and it is only a question of time before someone is killed. As a member your are also an associate member of MAG (you may well be a full member) and as such you can speak to their specialist lawyers and see what can be done. Good luck, just a thought but perhaps members who know others with new Dyna's could warn then so they can change their pads.

Good point. I do ride through the winter. Could be something to do with it. Anyway, the service manager at Sycamore called me this morning to arrange an evening visit to my home to replace the pads and do the caddy bolt recall (if he can get a bolt in stock). Presumably, the pad backplate will go back for analysis. So 10 out of 10 to Sycamore. Good service in my book! |

Now I realise that it isn't an isolated incident it's kind of worrying. |

| Re: 60mph front brake failure 06 Dyna Are you really going to let them put Harley pads back in it after an experience like that? I'd insist on EBC which stop better anyway. |

I think you've got raise this with HD UK and point them to this board when telling them about the frequency of the problem, the dealer won't do it for you he won't want to make waves. Who knows when or where this is going to happen again without a mod or change of supplies to HD with the possibility that some might get killed next time.

| Re: 60mph front brake failure 06 Dyna I've come across this problem a lot though not on bike's,first time was years ago when asbestos free linings and pads started to be introduced on commercial vehicles and buses, there were a lot of issues with glazing and bonded linings becoming detached! It seemed at the time the new materials didnt handle the heat like the old stuff However my point is this problem is back and I've seen it a lot on ford transits and the like, OEM pads detaching from the backing way before they are half worn and worse still 52 seater coach's the brake caliper's of which require a 2 man lift to set in place so have huge pads to match,I've stripped any number of these only to have the friction material break up like a digestive biscuit!! Glad your ok mate and hope you get some joy out of HD on the subject. And now your all relaxed try not to think about the consequences had the pad jammed between the disc and caliper ![]()

| Re: 60mph front brake failure 06 Dyna Likewise buddy...glad you're OK. I deal with Sycamore but I have a Deuce and it's in for brakes as we speak. The rear locked on me a couple of weeks ago and almost threw me down the road. I will be talking to them about this tomorrow. These machines are twice the price of almost all other makes and, although we all accept the fact and buy them anyway, there can be no compromise on safety. This is not about potentially twisted metal and lost bonus, it's about lives. It's one thing having to break earlier than the Jap bikes because HD kit is less than effective but when what little stopping power you do have disappears over your shoulder in a cloud of asbestos...that's totally unacceptable. ![]() |
