Re: Spicey and his home made stainless steel mufflers....

The pipes look good.

Can't help thinking though that he has produced a set of pipes similar to straight through drag pipes with all their drawbacks and problems if not fitted to a drag bike.........still an excellent looking set of pipes though.

I really would advise getting the bike set up on a dyno with a SERT or PCIII. It might seem expensive but it's cheaper than an engine rebuild if things go tits up in the fuel delivery department.

Re: Spicey and his home made stainless steel mufflers....

I`m sure your right Karen, should get it set up properly
but what happened was,
my original silencers, the baffles inside came loose, making a F*ck awfull racket so with a hefty kin great wack with a length of steel pipe and a kin huge hammer I managed to get em to wedge back in position
this only lasted a few weeks and then they worked loose again and so rattle was back.
looked into buying replacements. the cheapest slip on Mufflers ( love that word)
were vance and hines slip on ovals at 350.00 nicker
F*ck that, for what is a piss poor thin bit of mild steel. with 2 microns of shitty Chrome.
which when fitted would need remapping and all that mullarkey.
so alternatively fitted a K&N air filter,
and my own stainless steel pipes, and upon a bit of research and advice.
have fitted baffles, that are 50% of the CSA of the pipes at approx 50mm from the end.
the bike now runs better than ever before, and on phils advice have checked the plugs,
and they look fine, from comparisonto the piccie in the haynes manual.
there is a little bit of a burble on the overrun,
but it did that anyway with the standard pipes, and certainly a lot less than my sporty ever did.
on asking advice from my local friendly dealer.
all he could say that at a 98 it was too old to have a remap..
he said bring it in and we will connect it up charge a min of 1 hours labour and let you know what to buy...
so Bollocks to em..
like I said it runs like a dream, plugs are clean, sounds great and cost me F*ckall
so gonna stick wive em..
just hope I dont live to regret it...
after speaking to mark last night the agg hes had with his O7 glide you can keep all your power commander and mapping mullarkey.............
