rigid softail ??

can i make my 94 heritage rigid and fit a sprung solo saddle, or is it not advisable? my shocks are about shagged and im fitting a solo saddle anyway .. so im thinking of replacing the shocks with solid struts and relying on the seat springs to soak up the bumps, has this been tried & tested or am i talking bollox?

Re: rigid softail ??

it has been done on swingarm bikes and frankly, looks shit. IMHO.

As for a Softail, you've got 90 per cent of a rigid's looks anyway...why not just forget about the shagged shocks, get the sprung seat and ride on? Anything else is just gonna be unnecessary hard work to NO visible effect.

Re: rigid softail ??

well main reason is to get the back end as low as poss (yes i know the problems with cornering/scraping) and the other reason is so i dont have to fork out for a new pair o shocks, i cant leave these on cos its allover the road.. tell me why it looks sh!t ? i cant see how you would know as all id be doing is replacing the shocks with solid bar, not hardtailing the frame..

Re: rigid softail ??

on a swingarm it does, I personally believe.

On a Softail...as stated......no visible result.

Go for it then!

Re: rigid softail ??

I've seen "hardtail kits" for softails in the U.S that weld on you softail frame to make it a hard-tail. looks something like this.

There not listed for latter models in the jammer catalog,- but I'm sure I've seen them.

Go this route, you`ll hate the hardtail thing.
