The best site around with a clear walk-through and discussion about this upgrade for EFI bikes is this German site. They make it look pretty simple and painless. Check it out.

Why would you want to?? you can make the EFI perform better than any Carb with an aftermerket power commander!!!

When you look at the US forums those that have heavily modded streetable Twin Cams are generally sticking with EFI and there is no push from the builders to go carb. The big hurdle with EFI, especially here in the UK, is getting a decent tune on whatever device you use to tune the EFI, just cos its a Dyno centre doesn't make them any good. You'll get better MPG and make better curves with your EFI, its just that it's a little harder to tinker with at home.

The reason iam thinking about the change to carb is that i am not reliant on dealer's, You breakdown through electronic problems you can't fix it yourself. Carb,s are simple and will always get you home. I have had problems with the injection side of the bike butterfly shaft braking over fueling having it remapped three times the bike has done 40,000 miles i wont to keep it for many years so is a carb the answer??? This is why i am asking john

Devon John Out of interest, have you priced the conversion up? The german website looks like you need the manifold, carb, aircleaner and electronic gadget box. I have asked them what the difference between EFI and carb is in terms of fuel map and economy etc and will post their reply. I'm interested because I prefer carbs, however will probably do it for the nightrain I am planning for next year ... depends on how much it all is Cheers, Roy |

| Re: Injection To Carb??
I've got a Triumph Rocket 111 as well as a 2000 Harley, (had Hd's for 22 years) and the one thing i dont like about the Rocket is the fact that it's injected. I find injection a pain in the arse for the reasons stated above (you are reliant on dealers, to much) even though i have an after market tuning set up for the Rocket,(Tuneboy) i do not have a degree in astro physics to use it, nor do i have a dyno to use it properly. All i can do with it is load preset tunes into the ECU for different pipe and air filter configurations. If it were possible to convert the Triumph to a set of carbs i'd do it in an instant, injection is over complicated and has to many sensors and stepper motors and bullshit involved, to many bits to go wrong. My advise is do it, makes life simple again. ![]() You can get yourself a complete S$S Carb Kit of eBay in the states for around £250-£300, and from what i can see on the link to the conversion instructions thats more or less it, and fitting it is a piece of piss, as long as you are fairly competent. Injected HD's especially the newer ones run way to hot, and again if you look on ebay in the US you will see quite a few EFI throttle body's for sale...
