Re: Panic !

I think that I've found the info I was looking for on a post by WildBill2556. I'm going down to the garage now to try it.

Re: Panic !

Didn't think to check if the error codes resurfaced as I was too happy about the light going out (Sad I know) anyhow, all I got to do now is check the belt tension and I can get on the road (Thank F***) for that) and get me MOT sorted.
Thanks for all the assistance. Next year I'll be hassling you all about the rear end conversion I want to do

Thanks again from

A very happy man

Re: Panic !

Yeah - sorry about that. Shoulda explained.
I had the front cylinder pushrods in the wrong way around. In my defence, - it was the bloody middle of winter and the light wasn't good

Re: Panic !

Just an update for anyone who's interested. I just took the old gal (the bike that is) for a ride after actually finishing this years mods (well nearly anyway) and I'm dead chuffed with it. I'll post some pics later but right now I'm going out to clean it and then ride it again

Next two jobs are to get the front wheel replaced as the chromes all rusty, and lower the rear end with the 'White Bros' lowering bolts I bought on fleabay. Thing is I don't want to take it off the road again right now so these extra jobs might have to wait for a while.

Re: Panic !

OK - it's no longer a panic as the bike appears to be going pretty good at the moment, but it wasn't

I set out for FatBoyz diner on Saturday morning at about 8:00am. The idea being that I have a nice little 80 mile or so ride, have a chat with Phil & Karen, then head off for the first MOT. That was the idea anyway.

Like I set, I set out at 8:00am. What happened after was a disaster. I got to the top of Birdlip hill on the A417 (Just by the Air Balloon Pub) and the clutch went. I hit the hazards and quickly pushed it across to the Air Balloon car park where I discovered that I had lost the fluid from the hydraulic clutch. I called Phil to explain I would be late for the MOT and then called the breakdown who carted me the rest of the way (SOS Bike Rescue if anyone's interested). Got to FatBoyzs and discovered that the brand new O ring on the line/transimission cover joint had split. Phil lent me his tools while Karen went out to pick up another O ring for me (It's not your standard size, being only 5mm) - for which I still owe Karen
I also mentioned that the clutch bearing had 'popped' out the previous day and Phil new what the problem was straight away and again lent the tools/garage space to sort it out. I had just put the whole thing in as it had arrived from the supplier and was unaware that the bearing housing was the wrong way around. With that sorted I had my cup of tea (Thanks Karen) and decided to do a final check before heading off for the MOT. Everything was ok accept for the front indicators, which would flash. After much faffing about I discovered that they couldn't have been working since the other day when I put the tank back on - I'd got the wires the wrong way around (Bit of a theme here eh?) Still all was now sorted and I thanked Phil and Karen for the use of tools/Dot5/floor space/ tea, and headed off to the MOT. I got lost trying to find the place (even with a SAT NAV) so I rang them on the mobile only to be told that they had stopped doing MOT's an hour ago Boy was I pissed off. I still had to ride 80 or so miles home andgarage the bike before going to Birmingham Airport to collect my Dad who was flying in from Eire and landing at 17:20.

After the anger at my situation subsided I thought to myself about what had occurred and decided that the best course of action was to just get on with it. While riding back through Wiltshire and up the M4/M5 corridor to Tewksbury I got to thinking that all in all it had been a good day really, nothing spectacular, and I still have the problem of the MOT ,but I did get a really nice ride out of the day, the bike is well and truly sorted (although I still want to get one of those tools for removing Deutsch connectors so I can do the wiring properly), and I got to see some really nice people (Phil & Karen that is) who were really helpful. So - without wishing to be accused of advertising, if you have some spare time and you fancy a ride out to a place where you can see some real nice people doing some really good Harley stuff then visit FatBoyz Diner. I mean I really can't thank them enough for their help yesterday. Who knows, if I'd thought to check the indicators before leaving I might even have got my MOT out of it. Still, I suppose it's another excuse for a ride out - I've got to get it done soon or I won't be able to tax the bike and then what would I do

Cheers FatBoyz Diner

Yes, I want one of these tools too! They are Snap On Part No: TT 600 and look like a nice little set. Click HERE to see them. They are a bit expensive but should last a lifetime.
Glad you got it sorted....Pat.
