| Alternative slip on mufflers for the Fatbob
Hi V & H have finally come off the fence & confirmed that they have no plans to manufacture slip on mufflers that will fit the new 08 Fatbob. They don't think that there will be sufficient demand - want to sell more complete systems more like! It seems a shame to dump the existing headers especially as they are stainless I believe. Problem is finding a replacement pair of mufflers to bolt on. Black Bear told me a few months ago that one of their customers had just removed the baffles from the standard mufflers with no ill effect. Digging around on the internet has thrown up that Rush slip ons might be a straight swap with the originals. Any one had any experience of this or found some other bolt on mufflers to retain the original headers? Cheeers Last edited by Moosehead; 02-05-2008 at 10:46 PM. Hi, I went down the Rush slip on route, they look like standard silencers and sound very nice. They have removable baffles but I have not tried them with the baffles removed, I am vary happy with the sound. I paid £300 for them, not cheap but they are well made. Look here: YouTube - Fat Bob with Rush 1.75 Slip-ons You'll find a few posts on various exhausts. Cheers, Andy |

I put Screaming Eagles on my 07 after it's 1st service-got 'em from the states. Loud enough to hear your engine but not loud enough to deafen you if touring at speed. I get a bit of popping back, nothing much, but I think they're supposed to drop on without any necessary mods.

Hah! Striker - you was right my friend. After extensive research & a general blank from most dealers it turns out that Rush Racing Products of Illinois make a pair of slip on mufflers that go straight onto the 08 Fatbob. Contacted them & the only UK distributer is Riders of Bristol (not Bridgewater) who sell to the UK for them. Very helpful guy called Paul Macddocks I think it was sorted me out. Mufflers on their own go for about £280 but they do some lovely end caps for £90 a pair. I know, 90 quid stuff that but then you look at the options & the red mist decends & you have to have a pair. Mine were fitted as part of the stage one process & they are just fab. Give the exhaust that deep down thwomp thwomp sound & growl, lound enough to make you smile but subtle enough to shut up when going past the bored squad car on the A1. Build quality is beyond fault, V & H can go whistle for my money. Rush website is Rush Slip On Mufflers - Motorcycle Mufflers - by E.P.I./RUSH |

Hi Moosehead I have to agree with you on the sound - really deep - like a Harley should be. I have an FXDL and just recently bought an 04 Sporty as my little run around and found a really helpfull guy called Steve @ Bears Customs somewhere up North. I got my Rush mufflers from him, good price, didn't treat me like a stupid girly well happy![]() Joy |
