My bike's started beeping three times!!

Hi there just a quick question,

When the ignition is switched off on my bike (2003 Road King) the bike beep’s twice to set the alarm “that’s normal,” but recently mine has started beeping three times, as far as I am aware nothing has happened to cause it,

This isn’t the first time it has happened, on that occasion it corrected it’s self after some time,

It has only started to beep three times for a couple of days now, if anyone can help with some advice,

I would like to know what causes it and how it could be corrected,

I was told it could be the battery in the alarm system that’s faulty or flat,

HI.

Check your alarms manual, it should have some info on it.

Mine too has started beeping 3 times on arming itself. I done nothing to the bike. I wonder if the battery in the fob is getting low?

i've got a 2007 883c

Don't think this breaks any rules about discussion on security etc as it is only information about a warning.

"The siren will chirp three times if siren battery is low"

Re: My bike's started beeping three times!!

From the electrical diagnostic manual.

If the siren is armed & the internal battery is dead, shorted, disconnected or has been charging for a period longer than 24 hours the siren will respond with three chirps on arming instead of two.

The internal siren battery may not charge if the vehicle's battery is less than 12.5 volts.

Battery life under normal conditions is three to six years.

The battery type is 9 volt nickel metal hydride battery.

Battery replacement kit Part No 69018-00
UK full list £20.63!

Fob battery type, Pannasonic 2032 or equivalent.

So first off I would advise a further check of your charging circuit, bike battery voltage, siren wiring and connectors.

Do not disconnect or tamper with the siren connections without disarming the system first or you may set it off and then will not be able to silence it for about ten minutes!

Any more info required PM me.

Ok thanks for the info I’ll check out all the above.
I know the bike battery is sound and the charging system has just been replaces so that’s ok so I need to replace the 9v battery in the siren.

You might want to check the voltage at the siren connector first, just to be sure.

Re: My bike's started beeping three times!!

Sorry to hijack thread but the manual says on arming get two or three chirps, but then two paras down says might be a problem. Bike only year ols and siren does work. Both fobs get same result. think simple battery change at fob would preclude fob batteries bein discharged. Otherwise trip to dealer under warranty is needed

Re: My bike's started beeping three times!!

My '03 started the three chirps over the winter. Will change the battery when the back wheel's out for next tyre change. It's not an indication that anything's wrong with the charging circuit. The siren battery is charged by the main battery, and the chirp is to warn you that it's not fully charging, and needs replaced (I think). I suppose it aids security that you have to take half the bike to bits to get at it...

I think PhilD advised me on the problem when it first happened (thanx Phil)
