| Re: Front engine mounting It's strange with these bolt sizes. There's been talk that the sizes got mixed up around 05/06 when mount changed. With earlier models you wonder if they had a pocket full of thin bolts and if they couldn't get one lined up they stuck a thin bolt in.Oh no,sorry, that was motorway bridges. ![]() When you start looking at these mounts it gets a bit strange. 16207-79C $45 16207-79B still available as Buell #L0501.2 $16 DS-243515 Drag Specialties replacement for 79B $20 Buell has to use old part as it has an extra washer, that won't fit new part,as engine hangs from rather than sitting on mount. |

| Re: Front engine mounting Part number 16207-79C is now 16207-79D the front mount is now more nylon than rubber, it's been made stiffer so it should last a little longer, hopefully it'll keep the rear wheel alinment in check as well!!

| Re: Front engine mounting Deja vu...all over again Went through this over 30 years ago with a Commando; juddering, vibes, speed wobbles = duff engine mounts - but when it was fixed it was brilliant, as the engineers designed it to be, not as the bean-counters insisted i.e. as quickly put together as poss.Cheers, Pete. |

| Re: Front engine mounting I went out this evening for a ride, and it's been a week since I fitted the new mounting, and I hadn't ridden it. I'd forgotten all about it, until I realised that the handling of this bike was different...very different. In fact in the 3 years that I've owned it, I can honestly say that it has never handled so well. If any of you have got handling issues with your tourers, spend 30 odd quid and 50 minutes upgrading your front mounting....I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with the result. Many thanks to Phil in the States for helping with the diagnosis via pm's. Brian.

| Re: Front engine mounting Thanks Brian, It seems the -79D is more like nylon and I'd be concerned the vibes would move(break things) elsewhere. I would think the problem with the earlier bush was the under size bolt/over size hole allowing the bush to "walk" and tearing the rubber. I'll get a -79C even if I don't need it now, before they all vanish. ![]() |
