Sigh.... i know, just so frustrating in the mean time. i was hoping to have my BMW R1200GS off the road in bits by now for some TLC whilst I ran the Harley. Also, hoping to get front end milled up, maybe next year.

I rang the dealers yesterday, another week gone by and no action. ECU not arrived (so they say). It's weird the difference in attitude from dealer to dealer, the one here in nottingham seem quite keen and the techs quite knowledgeable (I know the master tech), but where my bike is they just don't seem bothered. Also, they say they haven't got time to test the bike by riding it when the part is fitted anyway, so I am not expecting it back anytime soon.

Chin up Fish old m8 its disappointing and frustrating when things dont work, espesialy our toys, and it does sound like you have had some real sucky service and advice from your stealerships.
But when its all systems go,r u gonna ride that moped or what, big smiles all round, come on down see the southern jessies, wake em up with that leary exhaust note, drink our pissy beer, nearly as expensive as Harley beer, then fookin off up north agin leaving us all in a tizzy.
If we dont see you soon we will see you at run to the sun end of sept, stage is all set ,transport sorted me and lel and paula definitly coming

Fish, have you sought any consumer advice from trading standards? I don't know what guarantee you got with the bike but being unusable after just a couple of months falls firmly in the 'unfit for purpose' category to me. Make some enquiries. A letter from a solicitor to the dealer asking for a full refund on such grounds might make them sit up and take notice and put a bit more effort in.

Re: Help, losing faith in Harley

Collected from Harley dealer on Friday by the custom shop.
Apparently it was 'all fixed'.

Custom shop rode it, it was faulty... STILL. (Now in the tenth week without it).
There are investigating taking it to a different harley dealer for me, one that is interested in future business.

The saga continues. I will be ringing Harley UK later asking what they are going to do for me as compensation.

Fish did you find your membership card in the envelope and/or did you ring Mitz Belsher for a new one?

The main man to talk to at H-D U.K:

Didn't find card and haven't rung Mitz yet.

Thanks for the number for HDUK.
This second dealer rang me yesterday following an email I sent preceeding the bike. To be fair they sound a little keener to get things sorted, although they warned of a three week lead time.
Buying a bike this year looks like it was a waste of time and money so far.

Re: Help, losing faith in Harley

Update:
Now in the 11th week off the road, forgotten what my bike looks like (but not the hole in the bank account).
Custom shop are working on Harley's behalf as they haven't got time to get my bike in for three weeks, after having it for 6 weeks with no results.
In the absence of knowing what the problem is, or what to replace, Harley have provided the custom shop with a donor bike from which to rob parts. They are going to rob as much as possible and everything to do with the injection system.

If it faults after this 'repair' I will be petitioning Harley for a new replacement bike ASAP.
The next step is solicitors.

Yep, keep the pressure up. Also talk to Trading Standards about rejecting the bike and getting all out of pocket costs recovered. You have rights. I would have expected HD UK to want to take a more active involvement in this. Maybe suggest (politely and non-aggressively) to HD UK that you will be contacting the motorcycle press about your woes.

Re: Help, losing faith in Harley

Just had a call from the custom shop.
He picked up the donor bike and swapped all possible components,
as well as fitting a Vance & Hines fueller to go with my Hypercharger and Big Radius pipes instead of the Kitech one I had fitted when I bought it. This will save bother as I will be able to take it to a Harley dealer instead of having to take it to Leeds each time there is a problem.
They've fitted a new front tyre FOC as they've been riding it to test it.
He's done 50 miles today and intends to do another 100 after tea, and 300 or so by the weekend, when I hope to collect it.

Keep your collective fingers crossed for me people,
hopefully it'll be fixed and sorted now.
THIS is the kind of treatment I expected from Harley seven weeks ago
