Its been back had a new calliper new master cylinder, and it still gets red hot, is this normal on this model? if anyone has got an 08 Fat Boy can you let me know if your rear disc gets reaaly hot even when not used. Did over 200 miles yesterday the back wheel and rear end was thick in brake dust
Thanks Frankie

A long shot but have seen this on old cars.
Brake binds,slacken nipple,brake releases,ah MC.
Strip MC,nothing!
Turned out hose was delaminating and a bit of rubber acting as one way valve.

I know your's is new but what else is left as long as any linkage is adjusted ok.

Ive seen that on hoses too, the disc seems true enough, althouth it has scored up a bit, there is no linkage on this model the pedal is connected directly to the master cylinder, Ive got a floating disc coming for it I will try that, I know I should just take it back but I don't know what else they could look for

Are you sure the caliper is floating, I didnt think 08 calipers were any different to 00 calipers like mine.

The floating disc is unlikely to make any difference on binding unless the original is warped. You really ought to take this back again cos its not right and I would do it before fitting the floating disc as its likely to score that up as well.

Re: rear calliper on 08 fatboy

Has it done this from new?
If there's no adjustment at all between pedal and MC then the recovery hole in MC isn't being masked.
If the disc was warped that much I would think you'd feel pulsing through the pedal.
I know it's painfull but take it back and get it sorted.
I.m also concerned as to what it's doing to the grease in the hub bearings.

The quickest fix would be for them to try a new hose.
Iknow your hose is not "old" but a free brake that builds up pressure and doesn't release it is the symptoms of a degraded hose as above.

Yep its definitly floating, they changed from 07, the disc is not warped and you can see the caliper move when you press the pedal, and you can see it release, its as if the inside pad is dragging, what I did notice when I got it home from new, the rear wheel was not in line, there was a gap between the right hand adjuster and the axle, I adjusted the wheel so that the it is identical both sides, Im wondering whether to put it back and try it
