TC 96- best value air filter/element upgrade?

I have an 07 TC96 with rush slip ons otherwise stock ( probably getting XIED 02 enricheners shortly to up the fuel mix ratio ) Question is without spending big bucks on a new aircleaner assembly,as an alternative I'm looking at keeping the stock airbox and just inserting say a K&N filter element. I thought I'd read somewhere though can't find it now that the standard set up but with replacement element can work well for better breathing with some improved performance.
In which case does anyone have any experience of or recommendations and possible able to provide ideas of makers /part /prices. Thanks , Jon.

Jon

Please see the stage 1 discussion at http://www.harley-davidson-hangout.c...-kit-dyna.html

A number of conclusions were drawn, of which included just changing the air element itself will not provide appreciable differences. One of the issues with the standard airfilter is the standard backplate which itself restricts air intake.

I generally looked at the time and found K&N to be more cost effective than S&S. However would propose looking on ebay or asking HDRC HD shops for the HDRC members price on a complete kit.

Cheers, Roy

I would spend the money on both a Screamin Eagle Heavy Breather and Powercommander III + rev Xtend + Advanced custom map 100, getting it set up at a Dynojet centre.

You should see major gains at the back wheel in both HP and Torque.

HP around 14-16%
Torque 12-14% ( more important )
