| Re: HERITAGE SOFT-TAIL 1974? 1992? id needed please eBay is full of suspect Harleys just now, some with very dubious stories behind them... The best scenario is if the guy's simply a prat, who knows naff all about Harleys, the worst is he gets your money, and he doesn't own a bike at all.. it might not even exist.. As has been pointed out already, there are huge inconsistencies in the description for the bike, the mileage, model, history, etc. The mismatch between year and date of first registration can be explained by the period the bike was supposedly registered in Switzerland, although you would need documentation to prove that. If it's been in the same owner's hands for so long, there should be a string of MOT certificates, and other documents to demonstrate that. This guy has a rating of only 5, and all his transactions have been as a buyer, never as a seller, so there's little to indicate how kosher he might be. All I would suggest is that no money changes hands until you can see for sure that he is not only the registered keeper, but also the owner, and that the VIN is checked by HPI to confirm that, and also the provenance of this oddly described machine. That's before you check it's straight, no bent frame, etc., it runs, and isn't completely knackered.. If an offer seems to good to be true, usually it is, but hope in your case it isn't... ![]() 4 grand may be cheap for a genuine Heritage if in good, usable condition, but it's a lot to pay for a pig in a poke... Caveat Emptor.
