| Hi, I tried some drag bars on my Street Bob, didn't like the look, so have put the mini apes back on. On a ride out wednesday it was pointed out that my brake light was on permanently. I have checked the controls and there fitted fine and the brakes are working normally (Harley normally) but still the light stays on ![]() ![]() ![]() Any (sensible) ideas please |

| Re: Brake light staying on the micro switch in the lever might have moved there's a little weg behind it try this first, its easy to break the switch when altering the fitments around on the handlebars , this is a problem that a lot of us seem to get i am thinking of going to a switch on the front brake line this is like most jap bikes best of luck PS off to perry's camping weekend this morning john

| Re: Brake light staying on Hi Paul I have posted this before somewhere if you slip a rubber tyre valve cap over the nodule in the handlebars control housing that contacts the switch it acts as a spacer that will stay in place and the brake light should work. (Thats if, this is where your problem is?)

| Re: Brake light staying on On mine, ther's a big warning not to remove the housing unless you pull in the brake lever, and fit a spacer (4mm?) between lever and housing. it says the brake light switch will be damaged if this isn't done... Yours might not be the same, but...

| Re: Brake light staying on Hi guys, had this on my bike. I tried fitting clips and things to the contact area of the lever. The proper resolution was a master cylinder overhaul kit. The rubbers get hard and the piston doesn't return correctly. New rubber kit and the job is a good 'un. |

| Re: Brake light staying on I always take the front brake lever off when I'm doing anything in that department. There's no need for the spacer that way, and if the whole lot swings down as it did with mine...the ballend of the lever won't dent the front mudguard...again. Brian.

| Re: Brake light staying on This is just something else to throw in the mix, I can't explain it ... I had been putting off fitting my new rear quickbob fender and rear light. However time caugth up with me, and where I had overtightened the stock light in the past, the little bushes left company of the light housing and the light dangled in mid air. So, I sellotaped it up at a friendly petrol station untill i fitted new mufguard/light. During this time, when the light had ejaculated itself from the housing, where it plugs in had become slighlty displaced so my brake light stayed on. The front did not make a difference, although the rear cut of the brake light, activated it, the light then went back to normal and returned to brake light. I can't explain that one, however if none of the other more tangible suggestoons work, try just unplugging your rear light from its housing (where the electrics plug in when you unscrew the 2 retaining screws for the lens) and checking the connections are clean before pressing it home. Waffle over (for now) Good luck, Roy |

| Re: Brake light staying on A further possibility, which I have had in the distant past with a twin element bulb, is that one element has broken at one end and shorted across to the other element, hence 'stays on'.
